The seed of the vision was implanted in 1995 with the mission of achieving excellence in K-12 education through a sound vision, innovation, and professionalism.
Today with 40 plus institutions-strong network of eight K-12 institutions and 30 plus preschools in Gujarat, , Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka under the hat, Kalorex Group has steadily grown with its impeccable pedagogy, updated curriculum, state-of-the-art infrastructure, scientific and advanced study material, and added new dimensions to its portfolio ensuring that it covers every segment of the society.
Offering high-quality education to over 34,000 plus students mentored by 3,700 plus teachers over the past two and a half decades, Kalorex is counted among the largest group of educational institutions in India that aims to “be the first choice for all possible target groups in providing quality education” It is a name that resembles professionalism and excellence in schooling and is often recognized as a quality conscious group with a focus on Innovation and use of Technology in Learning.

THE WOMAN WHO MADE IT HAPPEN
Manjula Pooja Shroff, MD & CEO, Kalorex Group, is a dynamic entrepreneur and an educationist with ardent zeal. In 1996, she began her entrepreneurial journey by establishing the first Delhi Public School (DPS) in Gujarat with a strong value of dedication, compassion, and devotion to the complete development of children. Over her journey of 26 years in the realm of education, the inspiring leader has touched the lives of thousands of students and teachers and has played a crucial role in their success stories too.
Dr. Manjula has always believed in participative leadership and has promoted a flat rather than a hierarchical structure in the organization which empowers all the staff members to be responsible and accountable towards their role in their respective institutes. She is a strong self-made leader who has achieved remarkable success in a highly competitive industry and has made a mark by her sheer passion for education and determination to allow every student an opportunity that he or she deserves.
She strives to break through the barriers of the conventional learning methods and focuses on establishing a contemporary and unconventional approach for education. Today, she works rigorously towards her dream, making education more accessible to all; regardless of their progress and socioeconomic status.
Talking about the factors that inspired her to establish Kalorex, the dignified woman states – “Education has always inspired me. I come from a very conservative royal family in Orissa where I was educated in a good convent school. I was good at studies and was also passionate about all school-related activities and programmes. In my family girls were allowed education till the 10th and they were married at a very young age.
When I saw this happening, I realized that this was not the kind of life I wanted to lead. I did not know that education was my liberation but I knew that education higher than 10th grade was important for me to become something. I became more determined to not only enhance my educational qualifications but to also empower others through the power of Education. This is how I undertook this journey of starting my own set of institutions”.
The Kalorex Group thus started its operations in 1995 and moving to Ahmedabad gave her the opportunity to open her first Delhi Public School, as a franchise in 1996 . The success of that model led to several initiatives that came up under the Kalorex banner through more than two and a half decades now. Manjula’s journey as an entrepreneur in India has seen its share of ups and downs.
Especially when she was at her initial phase, people did not take her seriously, she being very young and inexperienced, but over the years she got motivated when young women take inspiration from her journey to start their ventures. In the ecosystem of India today her journey is very relevant when people are emphasizing on women empowerment and equality.
A Name Synonymous To Professionalism & Excellence In Schooling- Kalorex
With a wide range of opportunities and services to different natures and groups of students, Kalorex is actively catering to the education industry specifically in the K-12 segment. Since its inception, Kalorex has established under its umbrella, the two Delhi Public Schools ( Bopal and East Ahmedabad), Calorx Olive International School -a full spectrum IB school at Ahmedabad and Calorx Public Schools at Ahmedabad, Mundra, and Bharuch. Apart from this they also have a chain of Pre – Schools spread out across Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. These are franchise as well as company-owned schools.
Dr. Manjula Pooja further apprised, “Over the 26 years of our existence we have had an immense impact on the education industry of not only Gujarat but also across the country and abroad. Our alumni are spread across the globe working successfully as engineers, physicists, consultants, bankers, and entrepreneurs. They are the best ambassadors and have made the Kalorex Flag fly high across the world. Apart from this, our stakeholders, rights from parents, students, teachers, vendors, and consultants have benefitted from our outreach and experience.Our consultancy services also provide management support to academic and administrative aspects of other schools.”
As a promise to cater to all educational and vocational needs of students, Kalorex Group has a school for Special Learning Needs to be called Kalorex Prerna and an institute called Visamo Kids Foundation which is a home for underprivileged but bright students who study in the partner schools across Ahmedabad and are offered premium K-12 education and vocational guidance beyond school years too. They have also opened a Vocational and Educational Institute of Calorx (VEDIC) for skill development for underprivileged girls to train them towards setting up their own business or getting employment.

Kalorex Group believes in staying updated with the latest in educational technology and tools to enhance the teaching-learning processes as well as play a role in the improvement in the school management systems. When technology was a distant dream in most schools in the early 2000s, teachers and students were using laptops in schools and projectors and digital content for teaching. Today they have advanced to a level where the teachers are using the ICT tools in their classroom teaching and are using the new age teaching methods like padlets, mentimeters, and digital libraries in their blended classes.
High use of technology in education alone cannot ensure quality in education unless the intent and application are clear on both teachers’ and students’ fronts. The school management needs to make informed decisions on investing in the correct kind of technology which will lend itself to enhancing learning outcomes.
Blended techniques thus need to be utilized where face-to-face teaching is supplemented by the online and digital resources after a thorough understanding on the part of the educators to improve the quality of learning. The availability of resources in students’ homes needs to be capitalized upon through flip teaching methodologies thus giving the learners guidance and direction about the correct and responsible usage of available resources.

Constant research towards the new teaching methods and also the tools and instruments used for assessments are being done so as to upgrade the teachers’ skills and be at par with the national and international standards. Teachers are trained at all levels for bringing in excellence in their practices”, emphasizes Dr. Manjula.

Teachers need to inculcate leadership qualities in students by focusing on students’ communication skills, strategic thinking and decision-making ability and negotiation skills clubbed with financial literacies. The world will be accessed more through a virtual stage in the coming era and online learning platforms are the way ahead. A good teacher encourages independent thoughts and independent learning. Contemporariness of the teacher is very important and continuous efforts have to be made to ensure that the teacher becomes a role model and a positive influence to set and achieve goals”.
