You can now download PAN card, driving license & other documents using WhatsApp
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) has announced that citizens of India are now able to access their DigiLocker using WhatsApp. They can also use the mobile app to contact the MyGov helpdesk. Users can now use WhatsApp to download documents such as their PAN Card, Driving License, Class X, Class XII Marksheet, and Vehicle RC.

WhatsApp now has a MyGov chatbot service that allows users to access many documents directly from their phone without having to go to the DigiLocker app or website. If necessary, the chatbot can also assist users in creating a new DigiLocker account.
Users can download these documents using WhatsApp: –
- PAN card
- Driving License
- CBSE Class X Passing Certificate
- Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC)
- Insurance Policy – Two-Wheeler
- Class X Marksheet
- Class XII Marksheet
- Insurance Policy Document (Life and Non-life available on Digilocker)
Abhishek Singh, CEO, MyGov Services, said, “Offering Digilocker services on the MyGov Helpdesk is a natural progression and a step towards providing citizens with simplified access to essential services via WhatsApp’s easy and accessible platform.” To use WhatsApp to access your DigiLocker account, sign in with your Aadhaar number, which will be verified via an OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
The process to download documents using WhatsApp
To get documents, users will just need to send ‘Namaste,’ ‘Hi,’ or ‘Digilocker’ to the WhatsApp number +91 9013151515.
- Step 1: Save the number +91 9013151515 in your contact
- Step 2: Open WhatsApp
- Step 3: Send Namaste or Hi to WhatsApp number +91 9013151515
- Step 4: The Digilocker Helpdesk will send the list of services it offers
- Step 5: Enter the service you wish to avail
The Digilocker Helpdesk will send the document to you via WhatsApp once you’ve completed the process. Those who have their documents saved on the Digilocker app, which is available on both the Google Play and Apple App stores, can take advantage of the services. DigiLocker claims to be secure behind encryption, ensuring that only the user has access to the documents.
